Nanaimo Port Authority
President & Chief Executive Officer
http://www.npa.ca
Nanaimo, BC

Located on Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia, the Nanaimo Port Authority, incorporated in
1961, administers approximately 50 kilometers of waterfront within the harbour boundaries. The City of Nanaimo, the second largest urban centre on Vancouver Island, has a warm, temperate climate and is Vancouver Island’s arts and culture hotspot.

The Port of Nanaimo is seeking an exceptional senior executive to lead the Port’s ongoing growth and diversification. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer facilitates the marketing and expansion of the port’s diversified
roster of services and facilities to existing and prospective clients around the world.

This is an exciting opportunity for a unique individual. The role involves a strong business and economic development focus. The Port of Nanaimo is both a commercial and community asset and a significant economic generator. The organization needs a CEO with outstanding strategic vision coupled with a roll-up-the-sleeves
style. Collaboration with various stakeholders and the overseeing of financial, corporate, human and other resources, to ensure the port maximizes its potential now and into the future, is an integral part of this leadership position.

The Board of Directors seek a candidate whose demonstrated skills and abilities will create an effective strategic
business plan around the future of this well established organization. As an ideal candidate your career track reflects progressively senior executive management positions, preferably with experience in an intermodal-based transportation environment or in an economic
development capacity. A hands-on manager of recognized diplomacy and integrity, you have a track record of establishing solid business relationships with all levels of government, stakeholder groups, especially the municipality and local First Nations, staff, suppliers
and workers. A consensus-builder, you are adept at identifying opportunities and building a team to facilitate programs and projects to fruition.

If exercising your strong leadership skills and striving for excellence are your passions, forward your résumé and covering letter, in confidence, to George Madden or Shelina Esmail.
