The Law Society of BC is the governing body for the legal profession in BC. The Law Society’s mandate is to protect the public interest in the administration of justice by ensuring the public is well served by a legal profession that is honourable, competent and independent. The Society brings a voice to justice issues affecting the public and the legal profession. Under the provisions of the Legal Profession Act, the Law Society is responsible for the licensing, professional conduct and discipline of the more than 11,000 lawyers in BC.

The Manager, Human Resources will report to the Law Society’s Chief Financial Officer and will be accountable for the development and management of an effective and integrated human resources function. Key areas of responsibility include:

• Employment initiatives such as recruitment, career development and retention
• Compensation & benefits administration
• Corporate training, employee development and coordination of other Law Society HR programs and activities
• Organizational effectiveness, including employee and labour relations

As the ideal candidate, you are a Human Resources professional with a minimum of 7-10 years’ related human resources management experience ideally within a professional services or related organization. In addition, you have a proven background in building solid relationships with diverse groups, an ability to interact with people at all levels and a pre-disposition to teamwork and strategic thinking. Personal commitment to best human resources and management practices is also desired. An undergraduate degree augmented by a diploma in human resources management or CHRP designation is preferred.
