Reporting directly to the Commissioner/Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager, Policy and Planning will play a central role in the development of policies and plans for the region. Working with an interdisciplinary management team, you will have close contact with elected officials and staff from local municipalities, senior provincial officials, agencies, and the general public. You will lead a department of over 170 staff and provide recommendations and advice to the Commissioner/CAO, political Committees and the Regional Board of Directors regarding all aspects of the development and implementation of the region’s iintegrated growth, infrastructure and environmental policies. The ideal candidate is a visionary and strategic systems thinker; a proven leader with outstanding communication skills and a commitment to achieving excellence in public service. Committed to sustainability principles, he/she is a hard driving, results oriented executive, known for his/her proven ability to develop credibility and effective working relationships with elected officials, employees and external stakeholders. He/she brings solid experience moving agendas forward in a multistakeholder environment in the areas of sustainability and metropolitan management.
