Private Career Training Institutions Agency
Chief Executive Officer/Registrar
http://www.pctia.bc.ca/
Burnaby, BC

The Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA ensures consumer protection for students through the registration and accreditation of private career training institutions. PCTIA was established via legislation as a not-for-profit regulatory and consumer protection agency in 2004, and became a crown agency in 2009. Unique in Canada and North America, the Agency was created as a self-regulating body operating under a cost-recovery model governed by a Board of Directors made up of industry elected representatives and government appointed public interest members. PCTIA requires basic education standards as set out by the Agency for all of its approximately 400 registered institutions and also offers a voluntary accreditation process to registered institutions.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (the Registrar) is responsible for leading this organization into the next phase of its development, ensuring a sustainable business model that has the capacity and flexibility to identify and respond to the unique and evolving nature of the private career training sector. He or she oversees the effective and efficient management of the organization’s services and programs, maintains strong working relationships with members, the provincial government and other related agencies, and is chief advisor to the Board and its committees. Additionally, the Registrar ensures continued credibility of the sector by maintaining high standards of quality for its member institutions.

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned leader with 10 – 15 years experience running all aspects of an organization. You have a proven track record of working with external stakeholders and government bodies to further a mandate and are also seen within the post-secondary sector as a credible and reliable professional. You have worked closely with Boards of Directors to guide strategy development and set priorities. Ideally, you have worked within the post-secondary sector and have a solid understanding of the unique nature of the private career training sector in British Columbia. Your experience is augmented by an undergraduate degree in business, public administration, law, or another related field.

If you are interested in contributing to the quality of British Columbia’s post-secondary sector, please submit a cover letter and resume to Allison Rzen and Esther McGregor.
