Shift Engineer http://www.westfraser.com/index.asp Hinton, AB West Fraser was founded in 1955 in Quesnel, BC and today operates 31 sawmills (16 in Canada and 15 in the Southern US, making West Fraser the second largest lumber producer in North America), 7 panel/plywood mills and 6 pulp and paper mills. Reporting to the Power & Recovery Superintendent, the Shift Engineer oversees and coordinates the work of shift operating personnel in the power & recovery area in a manner that supports the safety of the plant and its employees, protection of the environment, quality of product and maximum pulp production. As Shift Engineer your duties and responsibilities will also include, but not be limited to: seeking ways to control costs and improve efficiency within the mill while complying with environmental regulations, ensuring the Power & Recovery Crews are adequately trained for the proper performance of their duties and have a full understanding of their responsibilities, coordinating and managing the shift to shift quality, production, and maintenance efforts, supervising shift crews in the application of approved procedures and policies within the Power & Recovery Operations and ensuring Safe Operating Practices (SOP’s) are known, understood and followed to generate quality products for internal and external customers. As the ideal candidate you have a Second Class Power Engineering Certificate and have a minimum of 5 years related experience in a large pulp, petrochemical, power utility or similar industrial facility and possess a broad technical knowledge base related to steam and power generation, recovery boiler operation and water and affluent treatment. In addition you have clearly demonstrated supervisory experience with strong and effective communications and inter-personal skills, strong technical/trouble shooting skills, have the ability to contribute in a team environment to derive maximum benefit for the team and possess a proven track record of system optimization and continuous improvement.
