Southern Vancouver Island is well served with more than 60 daily departures and convenient non-stop or one-stop service to every major Canadian city and many U.S. destinations as well as services to Mexico. More than a transportation centre, the Victoria Airport is also source of pride for residents in the region and an economic catalyst and business generator for southern Vancouver Island as a whole. The Board of the Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) is seeking a talented and progressive leader to build on the success of the past and continue the work of today in making Victoria a jewel among regional airports in Canada. The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for working with the Board of Directors to crystallize the strategic direction of VAA, optimize resources to achieve objectives and performance requirements, and continue to operate a highly successful and financially responsible organization. The CEO will have a vision for the airport and will work closely with staff, airline carriers, the community and other stakeholders to ensure plans, operations and physical assets meet passenger and client needs now and in the future. The ideal CEO candidate is an outstanding executive recognized for leading by mentoring while inspiring and empowering his/her people. An open, approachable consensus-builder, the candidate we seek has overseen a growing, service-oriented business, which operates in a complex, highly regulated and commercially focused industry. The selected candidate will be skilled in business planning, finance, logistics, marketing, human resources, real estate/property management, safety & security, and capital construction management. A progressive career in airport management or aviation would be highly beneficial but not mandatory. The new CEO will be a proven innovative and entrepreneurial thinker who can encourage open dialogue and skillfully achieve buy-in for change initiatives. A natural spokesperson at ease with media, all levels of government and in all public forums, the selected candidate will be a diplomatic and straight-forward individual; someone who can always be counted on.
