Thanks to dedicated volunteers and the generosity of donors, Muscular Dystrophy Canada is able to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by neuromuscular disorders. Muscular Dystrophy Canada supports the independence and full participation of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders. We assist individuals to participate in the decisions that affect them and collaborate with others for social change. We fund research to improve the quality of life of people with neuromuscular disorders and to find a cure. As the successful candidate, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and play a key role in positioning and preparing the Western Canada region, its chapters and many stakeholders for strategic growth. In addition, you will lead a professional team locally and assist the organization in the establishment of national strategic objectives as a member of the Senior Management Team. You will be responsible for significant revenue growth through development of new and innovative revenue streams and the growth of traditional fund development programs. You will ensure the delivery of programs and services, develop budgets and provide leadership in the implementation of annual operating plans. An emphasis will also be placed on promoting positive relations with external contacts including people with neuromuscular disorders, fire fighters, donors, government, partners, the public and the media. You have a proven strength in fundraising as evidenced by your success in the areas of foundation giving, corporate partnership, building major endowments and annual campaigns. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills and your ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people at many levels will enhance your ability to promote the organization’s activities to the broader community while creating an internal environment of trust and respect. In addition, you will have a minimum 5-7 years experience in a non-profit leadership position with an emphasis in the delivery of a variety of fund development activities. A university degree in business, marketing or related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is vital. You also bring experience in program service delivery, dealing with day-to-day administration issues and staff leadership.
